Google Will Release Android Phones in 2008

According to a news article on Bloomberg.com, Google is on track to release Android phones the second quarter of 2008. The project depends on building collaboration between providers and handset manufacturers, as well as growing consumer demand. Google is looking to use it’s mobile business to compete with companies like Microsoft and Apple.

One obstacle could be implementation by major wireless carriers. The lauch of Android depends on providers like Sprint and T-Mobile embracing and understanding the technology. If there are issues with this the Android may be pushed back.

Google is giving away the operating system for free and began offering the platform to service providers, sellers, and chip makers- resulting in The Open Handset Alliance.
