The G1 phone by Google ( sometimes called the ” G Phone” as Google’s competition to the i-Phone) is finally coming. And it should be here later this month- October 22, 2008 to be exact.
This is phone that has been long in the works on the Android platform. There has been much speculation over the last few months about Google’s phone and whether it can compete with the Apple iPhone. Google has decided to release the G1 on the T-mobile network. This could be a coup for T-Mobile as AT&T has received a lot of attention in the last couple years, especially after landing the iPhone deal.
Will it live up to the hype? Will Google conquer the world? I guess we will see.

According to a news article on Bloomberg.com, Google is on track to release Android phones the second quarter of 2008. The project depends on building collaboration between providers and handset manufacturers, as well as growing consumer demand. Google is looking to use it’s mobile business to compete with companies like Microsoft and Apple.
One obstacle could be implementation by major wireless carriers. The lauch of Android depends on providers like Sprint and T-Mobile embracing and understanding the technology. If there are issues with this the Android may be pushed back.
Google is giving away the operating system for free and began offering the platform to service providers, sellers, and chip makers- resulting in The Open Handset Alliance.
